There's really not much to say, is there? Today is the eighteenth anniversary of the founding of this blog, but the prior year has been the worst ever.
Calendar year 2024 had only 27 posts, eleven of those posts in the first two months of the year. Historically the trend had been increases each year, until the Covid year of 2020, when I somehow generated a record 148 posts.
Meh. What else did I have to do in 2020? But since 2020, the trend has been decidedly downhill. 98 in 2021; 59 in 2022; 52 in 2023; and now 27 in 2024.
For my 2025 New Year's resolution, I vowed to average two posts per week during January. I succeeded, but it's been downhill ever since.
Why? If I knew the answer, I might be able to do something about it. Covid-induced brain fog is one possibility, although I never had more than the mildest case of Covid. But they say even a mild case can cause various cognitive problems.
I begin my nineteenth year. I'll write when the spirit hits me. I've never found that forcing myself to write results in much that's worth reading, and so I won't.
It will be interesting to see what that kid on a haystack has to say for himself a year from now.
